LODD - BOSTON

The two firefighters killed in the blaze were identified as Paul Cahill, 55, of Scituate, Mass., and Warren Payne, 53, of Canton, Mass. Both worked out of Engine 30, Ladder 25 company, which is located near the restaurant on Centre Street in the city's West Roxbury neighborhood.
Ten other firefighters were taken to hospitals with less serious injuries and a paramedic was evaluated for chest pains. Two were initially listed in critical condition, but their conditions were upgraded. One was later released and another remained hospitalized Thursday afternoon.

CAR VS GARAGE - GALES FERRY

If you look close you can see the vehicle hanging out of the garage

the blue in the middle of the picture is water from Long Cove

On Aug. 28th the Gales Ferry VCO was dispatched to a car into a garage. On arrival the above was found with one pt still in the vehicle. This couple is very lucky. 1 foot forward or to the right and this would have been a totally different rescue. The drop out of the back of the garage was over 10' to a steep slope that goes directly into Long Cove. A local landscape company that lives next door just happened to have an early day. They quickly chained the car to their truck preventing the vehicle from going any further over the edge. No injuries to the occupants in the vehicle.

PIN JOB - OLD MYSTIC

On Aug 28th around 0645hrs the Poquonnock Bridge and Old Mystic FD's responded to I95N between exits 88-89 for a 1 car mva. Enroute CSP reporting entrapment and for services to expidite. On arrival 1 pt was found pinned in the vehicle. Extrication took several minutes due to pts location in the vehicle. Lifestar transported pt to Hartford Hospital.
More pictures to come.

MVA - PBFD

On Aug 27th PBFD "A" shift responded to Route 184 and Buddington for a 2 mva reported with entrapment. On arrival 1 pt was found lying on the floor under the dashboard. Sorry for the bad pics. Groton Autobody is very quick with hooking the vehicles.

3 CAR - POQUONNOCK BRIDGE

On Aug. 7 around 1230 the Poquonnock Bridge, Old Mystic and Mystic Departments responded to I 95N between exits 88-89 for a report of a roll over down the embankment. Medics on scene prior to the end of dispatch reporting no injuries with all occupants out of the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle pictured are extremely lucky. The passanger was not wearing a seat belt. Its hard to tell by the pictures but the vehicle hit a tree and rolled up the tree with damage to the drivers side A post. In the last picture you can see a portion of the windshield is missing. It was about 5 feet in front of the car. Also you can notice that the hood is missing. That was about 50+ feet up the highway. We are thinking when the car hit the guard rails one of the wires went under the hood ripping it right of the hinges. One other vehicle was damaged by road debris and the 3rd vehicle that actually caused the accident fled the scene.

BRUSH FIRE - NORWICH

On Aug 2nd around 2230hrs the Norwich Fire Department responded to Cedar St for a brush fire. I just happend to be coming home from a Defenders Game when this came in. Special thanks to Rizzo for helping me navigate the back roads of Norwich.

STUMP DUMP FIRE - HOPE VALLEY, RI

Thanks to Don Johnson for the scene access. The Hope Valley Department has been working this fire since July 28th. The fire first broke out 4 years ago and has been burning underground since then. Every year the fire will break out due to the dry weather. This is the worst it has been since the original fire. There is 1800' of 5" hose laid out to supply the operation. Units are working 12 hour shifts until the fire is brought under control. Units on scene were hoping they would be done by the weekend. Various Ladder and Engine Co's are being brought in so they do not overwhelm any department.

POSSIBLE JOB - COHANZIE

I was on my way to Hope Valley to take a few pics when Cohanzie and Jordon Departments were dispatched to Abba Travel on Broad St. for smoke from the building. Turned out to be a furnace problem. Access was gained via a lower basement window seen above.
