1st ALARM - GROTON CITY FD




On November 3rd the GCFD was dispatched to Pine Island for a smoke investigation. On arrival units found heavy smoke coming from the structure. A First was transmitted bringing in PBFD, EBFD, SBFD and ems units. Sorry for the quality of the pics. They were taken with my camera phone.
THE DAY Fire Damages House In Groton
Groton - Firefighters doused flames of a minor fire at a Pine Island Road home Monday evening. Groton City Fire Chief Nick DeLia the fire started in rear section of 11 Pine Island Road, a small, older two-story clapboard home. The resident, Lynn Cadett, was not in the home at the time.
DeLia said she was not able to stay in the home Monday night due to heat, smoke and water damage.
The fire was called in to Groton fire alarm at 7:39 p.m. Poquonnock Bridge, Electric Boat and Sub Base fire departments also responded, as did Groton Ambulance and the Salvation Army firefighters sevices canteen.
DeLia said firefighters vented the roof to release smoke. He said they also opened several walls to make sure no fire extended into them. He would not speculate on the cause or origin of the flames, or the amount of damage done.
