I just wanted to post a link to the Channel 3 video of the Haz-Mat in GFFC. A couple of my photos were used in the video.

I want to thank everyone for checking in to see if the site has been updated. I have been a little busy and just haven't had the time to put towards the blog.
I have also been working on another web page to display large amounts of photos as well as photos I have taken along the way. Non fire department related photos. I hope you enjoy this new page. I will continue to post FD related photos on the blog with a few photos of each incident. When I have numerous photos I will attach the link. You can also reach the link by using the side bar at any time.

I would like to introduce everyone to my son, Ayden James. He was born on March 17th
2 MVA's - Montville
This was the first accident that lead to the second one.395 southbound at Raymond Hill Rd underpass 1 car rollover minor injury transported to L&M BLS. Units responding M-17, M-100, and M-200
2nd wreck from 395. these are just 2 of the cars involved. 395 southbound just north of previous rollover. total PT's was 9. 1 Person removed from middle row and rear of Expedition using the tool. Multiple M/A. Units on scene were M17, M-100, M-27, M-200, M-300, M-400. MTFD Engine 1, ALS Ambulance, Medic 55. Waterford Ambulances W-200, W-500. And One ALS ambulance from American Ambulance.
On November 21st PBFD responded to Stop N Shop for a reported trailer fire possibly attached to the building. On arrival found just that. It was reported that the trailer was filled with batteries. The fire was quickly contained but a lengthy smoke evacuation continued.

AIRPLANE CRASH 11-19-08 PBFD
On November 19th PBFD responded to a report of a plane no longer on radar. The plane was found in Bluff Point. Minor injuries were reported

On November 3rd the GCFD was dispatched to Pine Island for a smoke investigation. On arrival units found heavy smoke coming from the structure. A First was transmitted bringing in PBFD, EBFD, SBFD and ems units. Sorry for the quality of the pics. They were taken with my camera phone.
THE DAY Fire Damages House In Groton
Groton - Firefighters doused flames of a minor fire at a Pine Island Road home Monday evening. Groton City Fire Chief Nick DeLia the fire started in rear section of 11 Pine Island Road, a small, older two-story clapboard home. The resident, Lynn Cadett, was not in the home at the time.
DeLia said she was not able to stay in the home Monday night due to heat, smoke and water damage.
The fire was called in to Groton fire alarm at 7:39 p.m. Poquonnock Bridge, Electric Boat and Sub Base fire departments also responded, as did Groton Ambulance and the Salvation Army firefighters sevices canteen.
DeLia said firefighters vented the roof to release smoke. He said they also opened several walls to make sure no fire extended into them. He would not speculate on the cause or origin of the flames, or the amount of damage done.

Police and local and state fire marshals are investigating two fires - one in Waterford and the other in Niantic - that occurred within an hour of each other at properties owned and managed by the same person.
No one was reported injured in either fire.
At about 1:20 a.m. firefighters responded to 53 Crescent Ave., where heavy fire was coming from the first-floor exterior, said Niantic Fire Chief Ron Pringle.
About an hour later, Waterford firefighters responded to a fire at 1 First St. , next to The Dock Restaurant and Capt. John’s Sport Fishing Center .
Property records show that Lisa Wildrick owns the Crescent Avenue property and is executor of the estate of Shirley Parker, which owns the Waterford building. Parker died in 2002.
Pringle said the Niantic fire made its way to the first floor and traveled up to the attic and through the roof.
Much of the house appeared gutted this morning, with a large, gaping hole in the roof. A portion of Crescent Avenue was blocked off.
East Lyme Fire Marshal Rich ard Morris said seven tenants lived in the three apartments in the two-story Victorian home. He said everyone got out safely.
While Morris declined to say early Thursday morning whether the fire was suspicious, he did say the state fire marshal is investigating both fires.
He said the state police Major Crime Squad, the East Lyme resident state trooper and East Lyme police were also assisting in the investigation of East Lyme ’s fire.
The American Red Cross was assisting the tenants to find lodging, he said.
Waterford officials could not be reached for comment.

The house is surrounded by a wooden fence, making it difficult to see the damage from the street. The top floor and the attic, however, were visible and appeared completely charred and gutted.
