What is your clam to fame EMT-I? Step up or shut up, if you and your department are so good then why do you need outsiders to put out your fires? Show a little pride and self-respect and make a push into a building once in a while! In the photo above I see 6 of your members standing outside and putting water on the fire. What happened to protecting life and property? Apparently that only gets done when outsiders come to show you how to do it. GET IN THE BUILDING AND DO SOMETHING YOU LOOK LIKE A BUNCH OF IDIOTS STANDING AROUND!!

Pretty well said, these comments about putting up an FDNY act are a littleout of line, actions speak volumes. I encourage you to stop hiding behind annyomous screen names (and grow up!) stand behind your tough guy statements. This is Post, I'm a Mystic Fireman and a Submarine Base Fireman, and I'll bet that we can stop acting like a bunch of kids.

I must say that this is getting a little carried away. I want to be able to let people speak their minds here. Have the balls to use your name when you are leaving some of these comments. If you weren't at the fire then how could you even say that we should have made a push into the building. Had we "pushed into the building, had we showed a little pride and self respect" as you ANONYMOUS said, we would all be going to a funeral. About 4 minutes after the picture, with PROBY's and JUNIORS fighting the fire from the outside, was taken there was a collapse of the first floor. So know the whole story before you start bashing other departments.

As far as the additional departments, there was POQFD and I believe Center Groton as cover companies. I wasn't sure at the time of post.

RINKS...the only people that use that term are career fireman who forgot where they come from!!!!! We all started out as a volly.

Again enjoy this site, feel free to speak your mind but if you do then use your NAME not ANONYMOUS!!

the captain made the call to pull out.

I was also at this call on Meeting house Lane. I think pulling out and attacking this fire from a defensive stance was the best call made and because of this every firefighter on scene that night went home to their families. If any other call for entry would have been made the circumstances would have been very different. I do not have a problem with other departments buffing calls but this should be done through the Incident Commander (IC). This did not happen on this call and we were fortunate that no one was lost due to these actions. I was on the back porch team and didnt appreceiate a head full of glass and other debris that was totaly unnecessary. We all have to work with each other ladies and gents. The only way we can strengthen our responses and ensure our safety as a brotherhood is to all follow the same rules of thumb ( Personal Safety Comes First)

Wow getting too out of hand here. Q if I may make a suggestion. set it so that anonymous cannot be used as an identity if possible.

maybe we should all agree to disagree. The decision to let some one work a fire let alone let outside personnel work a fire is a hard one. You nenver know until you are in the command role. The Lieut was good enough to step up and set straight that the guys with the black coats got permission and it seems that whether or not permission was received was a big bone of contention.

That is all I have to say about it because as I write this I also think that enough is enough. Lets just play nice and stay safe and leave petty differences aside

heheheheheheheh... pull out
