HOUSE FIRE - QUAKER HILL 7/3/06

Structure Fire, 19 James Ave in Quaker Hill at 0202 hrs on July 3. O/A Fire on A & B side of building with live wires down on the B side. All occupants, 2 adults and 5 children were out on arival. Large dog and rabbit removed from house by firefighters. The fire was brought under control shortly after arrival of the first arriving crews. The damage was mostly to the exterior of the building and was caused by smoldering firworks on the porch. One occupant was transported for smoke inhalation by W5oo. Responding companies: Quaker Hill, Cohanzie, Oswegatchie(W94), Mohegan Tribal Fast and the Red Cross.

FATAL MVA - PBFD 8/10/05

NOTICE THE ITEM THAT HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THIS ITEM CAME FROM THE CARGO AREA. LUCKY FOR THE OPERATOR OF THIS VEHICLE IT MISSED HIM.

THIS MVA OCCURED IN AUG. OF LAST YEAR. THE PT IN THE VOLVO HAD TO BE EXTRICATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE POQUONNOCK BRIDGE "C" SHIFT ALONG WITH CENTER GROTON FD OPERATED AT THIS ACCIDENT.

PBFD- MVA 7/3/06

On July 3rd PBFD A Shift responded to a mva with injury. This vehicle traveled about a 100 feet through the woods coming to a stop after taking out little more than a 1/2 dozen trees. The vehicle was not visable from the road way. The patient was out of the vehicle prior to FD arrival.

CHIEF DANIEL T. KEOGH SCHOLARSHIP EVENT

The RIDERS OF FIRE MC and the EMERALD SOCIETY and with the help of many others will be conducting a benifit Poker Run and Steak night to raise money for the DANIEL T. KEOGH SCHOLARSHIP FUND. For those who don't know a Poker run is traditionally a motorcycle event in which you get a playing card. You then drive to designated bars to recieve your next playing card. The person with the best poker hand after making all stops will then win a prize to be determined. For those with out a motorcycle you could use your car or you could just join everyone for the steak and beverages with friends and family.
